Each white-line woodblock’s unique handmade print starts with a drawing; knife carved into a laminated Japanese Shima basswood board in the tradition of the Provincetown white-line printers of the early 20th century. The basswood block is then painted using a fine English watercolor medium and the image is transferred by hand using a barren to a sheet of Japanese Kochi paper made from mulberry and rice fibers. This process is repeated over and over again in a process that combines both Eastern and Western styles of woodblock printing. The resulting print is unique, each varying in the delicacy of color and texture. The image is scanned and printed using pigment ink printed on the finest of paper, Epson Velvet Fine Art 100% archival cotton rag. Sizes range from large format 17 x 14 to 5 x 7 cards or framed art with many scenes to choose from.
